Corporate Giving

As a philanthropy-minded corporation, Pan-American Life strives to improve the quality of lives in the communities where we do business.

Whether through the organizations close to our employees' hearts or by supporting those most in need in our communities, our commitment is to give back as often as we can while aligning our philanthropic efforts with our strategy.

We are very grateful to the employees and producers that invested time and personal commitment to our 2007 philanthropic efforts:

Panama

Pan-American Life Health Week: Pan-American Life Insurance de Panama, S.A., celebrated "Pan-American Life Health Week" –an annual community event. The event featured a health fair and a medical tour with more than 10 healthcare providers in the community of Piriati, Altos de Bayano, which has a population of approximately 700.

Hit a Homerun for "Nutre Hogar": For the third consecutive year, Pan-American Life Insurance de Panama, S.A., was the official sponsor of "Hit a Home Run for Nutre Hogar", an event that brings together national and international professional baseball players for a single objective: to hit homeruns to fight the malnutrition of the more than 7,000 children the "Nutre Hogar" treats.

Ecuador

Play for Kids: By way of sponsorship, Pan-American Life participated in the Play for Kids Golf Tournament. The event raised more than $115,000 directed toward the purchase of book bags, children's games and toys for more than 10,000 school children in Ecuador.

The Solidarity Cup: Los Cerros Golf Club Golf organized the Solidarity Cup, a charity tournament where friends, clients and business partners came together to create a Pan-American Life team. The Solidarity Cup benefited the Rotary Clinic Quito Colonial, to make possible the much needed neonatology and obstetric equipment.

United States

Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra: In 2007, Pan-American Life Insurance Group signed a five-year, $125,000 agreement to be the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra's (LPO) title sponsor. Each of Pan-American Life's sponsored-Spotlight Concerts will be titled "Fiesta Sinfónica," and all will feature Hispanic artists alongside the full LPO orchestra.

The pledge reflects our commitment to the city and the international community. Like LPO, we are proud to share the ideals of innovation, adaptation and stability for New Orleans and its community.

United Way: Pan-American Life's participation in and support for the United Way was marked by a banner year in 2007. Contributions for the 2007 campaign were $127,402, including $69,402 from our employees. This excellent performance represented a 22 percent increase over the prior year and earned Pan-American Life recognition as one of the Top 60 Corporate donors of the campaign. While reaching this benchmark, the company also sponsored specific United Way initiatives and fund raising programs, including their Loaned Executive program.

In addition, our Chairman of the Board, President and CEO José S. Suquet, accepted the position of vice chairman for the United Way for the Greater New Orleans Area. In this key role, he worked closely with regional United Way officials and fellow board members to increase community awareness of the United Way and build long-term relationships with the business community. In 2008, he will assume the chairman's role.
