Pan-American Life to Sponsor LPO

NEW ORLEANS 6/29/2007 11:31:48 AM

New Orleans Based Company Becomes the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra Concert Title Sponsor

NEW ORLEANS, June 27, 2007 – Pan-American Life Insurance Group signed a five-year, $125,000 agreement, to be the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra’s title sponsor for a special concert in the Spotlight Series.

“This pledge reflects Pan-American Life’s commitment to the city and the international community,” said President and CEO of Pan-American Life José Suquet. “Like LPO, we share the ideals of innovation, adaptation and stability for New Orleans and its community.”

Due to Hurricane Katrina in August, 2005, LPO musicians evacuated across the U.S. and offered “Opening Night” in Nashville, Tenn., while Pan-American Life temporarily housed operations from Houston and Dallas for four months.

“We’re undertaking a new campaign that will help us secure the expansion of our work into the broader region,” said Babs Mollere, LPO managing director. “This is the beginning of the next stage of what we believe will be a beneficial collaboration.”

Founded in 1911, Pan-American Life evolved from a local business in New Orleans to a multinational company of more than 800 employees, mostly Hispanics, with operations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

“We will be supporting the integration of the city’s Hispanic communities and the city’s cultural rebuilding,” said Suquet. “We didn’t want to miss the opportunity to reinforce our loyalty to New Orleans.”

Each of Pan-American Life’s sponsored-Spotlight concerts will be titled “Fiesta Sinfónica” and all will feature Hispanic artists and the full LPO orchestra conducted by Maestro Carlos Miguel Prieto.

The first Fiesta Sinfónica will be offered during the 2007-08 season at Dixon Hall on the Tulane University campus, while the others are scheduled to be presented at the Mahalia Jackson Theater of the Performing Arts, with anticipated completion of the theater renovation in 2009.
