PALIG Announces New Country Manager in Colombia

NEW ORLEANS, April 2, 2009 –– Pan-American Life Insurance Group (PALIG), a group of leading international insurance and reinsurance companies, announced today that Manuel Lemus has been named the new country manager for Pan-American Life in Colombia.
In his executive role, Mr. Lemus will reorganize the in-country operations, with a focus on the Group Health Business; develop strategic approaches to reintroduce Pan-American de Colombia; and lay the foundation for long-term success. The revitalization will also include a renovated health product portfolio and expansion of the provider network, as well as the introduction of mass marketing and micro insurance products.
Mr. Lemus will draw from an extensive 30 year career in the life and health care insurance industry in Latin America. For the last eight years, Mr. Lemus was an Individual and Group Insurance Manager with Seguros de Occidente, S.A. in Guatemala. Previously, he was general manager with Managed Care of America in Brazil, overseeing a $12 million book of business. He has also held management positions with Golden Cross/Cigna International in Brazil; Seguros Caracas/Liberty Mutual in Venezuela; and Cigna Internacional in Mexico, Guatemala and Colombia.

Mr. Lemus earned a Masters in Business Administration from Universidad Rafael Landivar in Guatemala.
In his new role, Mr. Lemus will be based in Bogotá, Colombia.
